Table of Contents License Agreement Program Credits Software Manual Managing Shipping Settings Shipping is handled by the program on a per-product basis rather than globally for the entire store. It is possible for customers to checkout with downloadable items, items that are not shipped, and items that are shipped using realtime, product based or custom methods (at the same time in the same order). To adjust each product's shipping settings, you will need to make updates on the Manage Products function. The fields described below are found in the Administrator Utility under the Shipping Settings | Manage Shipping Settings function. These fields mainly control how errors are handled and presentation aspects on the checkout page. Realtime Method - No Selection Fields The realtime method no selection fields are entered here in case realtime shipping is selected for a product, but a realtime method was not selected. Realtime Methods - Name & Price for Errors These fields are used to set a shipping method name and price in the event that the shipper's site is down and rates cannot be retrieved, there was some other type of connection problem or the shipper did not return any valid responses (either because the box is too large to ship or you do not have the methods enabled that the shipper returned as available). Realtime Methods - Dimension/Weight No Entry Fields These fields allow you to specify default dimensions and a weight for boxes in the event that dimensions and/or weight were not entered for products being shipped. Realtime Methods - Present Overweight Errors & Dimensional Errors Select whether to present error messages for overweight errors and/or dimensional errors when the box being shipped is too large for the shipper. Whether these are set to Yes or No, the Name & Price for Errors will be presented as the shipping option to the user. These fields only control whether messages are displayed as well. Realtime Methods - Handling Charges If you decide to use handling charges for shipments in addition to the realtime rates returned by the shipper, enter those handling charges here. Product Based Method - Name & Price for No Entry These fields are used to set a shipping method name and price for products that are to be shipped using the product based method, but do not have a product based method name or price set. Product Based Method - Handling Charge If you decide to use a handling charge for product based shipments in addition to the prices specified for the products under the Manage Products function, enter that handling charge here. Custom Method - Script For No Selection This field is used to set a custom script selection for products where the custom shipping method was selected, but no custom shipping method was specified. Custom Method - Name & Price for Errors In the event that your custom shipping script has a syntax error or is otherwise not functional, these fields are used to present the user with a shipping charge. Checkout Settings The checkout settings allow you to adjust the text displayed to users concerning shipments to the billing address, shipping address or multiple addresses. Additionally, you have the option to allow shipments to the billing address only; a shipping or billing address; or the shipping address, billing address or multiple addresses.
